Abu-Ghazaleh: "I Call on Board of Directors to Adopt Knowledge-based Transformation"

DUBAI - HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) discussed the role of technology in gaining timely information at the Board of Directors 2013 conference held at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai.
In his keynote speech, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said:" IT has become an integral part of every businesses functioning with organizations having adopted a wide range of IT technologies to meet various business demands. This means that any IT infrastructure typically consists of a multitude of vendors and technologies helping to keep businesses functioning.”
He added:" Today, information is increasingly recognized as a key resource of the organization and the way organization manages information will increasingly determine its survival and growth in the future. Information technology is clearly shifting away from the support and administration function to the mainstream and strategic function and it is gaining top management attention."
Furthermore, Abu-Ghazaleh explained that our world today possesses what he referred to as citizens in the world of knowledge and these are the children who drink milk with information technology. These include our current generation that is new to the world of knowledge. In addition, he pointed out that the statistics of the International Telecommunications Union show that the increase in the number of the knowledge world citizens will soon lead to these citizens becoming the biggest and dominant percentage in our world as opposed to minimization of those new to the world of knowledge.
He also stressed the fact that the strength of organizations became exclusive to its technological advancement as is the case in Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property which became the first in its field due to that.
Moreover, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International (TAGI) for audit services was able to become the only accounting company in its region from 20 international multinational companies that are a member of the big companies' forum under the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) in New York.
He also said:" TAG-Org is currently launching its own electronic cloud which represents an advanced experience in the private sector providing the members of the group in its 80 offices, customers, board of directors and the students of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University with a digital fully integrated medium which will enhance its ability to perform its services in a better way."
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh concluded by saying that it's not required that the boards of directors become experts in information technology but that their role and responsibilities are in taking the decision to convert all their activities to become knowledge based i.e. to be run via information technology and telecommunications and that is through the selection of competent experts and with the aid of consultants, noting that Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Information Technology offers these consulting services to its customers in the public and private sectors at a regional level.
Dr. Abu- Ghazaleh also admits that he is not an expert but that his place of responsibility in the board of directors is to make the decision and to assign the group's experts to execute it. Hence, our boards are flawless even in the absence of its technological expertise because what we need is their vision and responsibility to lead the transformation under the digital eroding tsunami.
