AGIP’s Executive Director Selected Chair of the Arab IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group 2015

CAIRO - Executive Director of Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Charles Sha'ban has been selected by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the League of Arab States to be the chair of the Arab Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) for 2015.
 
According to AGIP, Sha’ban served as the first Vice-chair of the Arab IGF Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group in 2014. He has been a member of the Advisory Group since 2011. Mr. Sha’ban has a wide-ranging experience in the field of Internet Governance and related public policy, good knowledge of the outputs of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Geneva 2003 and Tunis 2005, and knowledge of the global IGF process mechanisms.
 
Sha’ban said: “This nomination signifies AGIP’s keenness to continue supporting the agenda of Multistakeholder Advisory Group, and participating actively in the Group’s work and mission. We, at AGIP, are extremely enthusiastic to work hand in hand with the members of MAG to achieve the Group’s mission.” 
 
The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is the outcome of the Tunis phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which took place in 2005
