TAGKF Hosts the Ambassador of Korea at a Seminar on the Korean Experience in Development and Culture

AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh; in the presence of Ambassador of Korea to Jordan Lee Bom-yon, patronized a seminar organized by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum in cooperation with the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on the Korean experience in the fields of development and culture. 

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh welcomed the Ambassador expressing his pride at TAGKF being the window for Jordanians to the Korean experience in the fields of development and culture, especially for Korea’s high-level achievements in technological, technical and cultural progress. 

In addition, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced the establishment of office number 106 of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) in Korea as one of its offices worldwide; affirming the importance of these offices in the development of relations between Jordan and other countries. He also added: “TAG-Org has the lead in the field of human resources building, implements 130 training courses in business and culture and trains in a range of 6 main languages to which it aspires to add the Korean language."

For his part, HE the Korean Ambassador expressed his gratitude to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for selecting the development in Korea for the presentation. He referred to the importance of how the Korean experience in innovation and development can benefit Jordan, especially since it has many features and capabilities which enable it to benefit from such development even more than Korea itself. 

He stated that: “Several decades ago, Korea was occupied, and thousands of its cities and villages were destroyed. Then, the Koreans led the development plan of their country, established new villages and developed great projects by a creative and distinguished team who has faced the challenges to achieve the current progress.”
Executive Director of the KOICA Jordan Bahjat Al-Adwan said: “The mission of the Agency in Jordan is to support those who deserve in sectors of education, energy, water and IT. For this purpose, many training and workshops were held for Jordanians in Korea and resulted in the implementation of activities directed to students and people of disadvantaged areas. 

Additionally, Economic Attaché in the Korean Embassy E Jil G presented a detailed explanation of the history of the Korean governments and economic development policies since 1948 until now which have resulted in a high increase per capita  (from 68$ in 1953 to 27800$ in 2017.)

In addition, the participants discussed agricultural development in Korea and the way to reflect the Korean experience to agricultural development in Jordan. They also gave a presentation on  Korean culture and showed a documentary on the development in Korea and how its people were able to achieve this development and progress in all fields after war.

At the end of the seminar, Mr. Al-Adwan presented memorial shields to HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and the Korean Ambassador.  Popular Korean dishes were served including the most popular hot and cold dishes and desserts in Korea.
