AMMAN - The Cultural Committee of the Orthodox Club in Amman hosted HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh in an open discussion panel, in the presence of eminent public figures, members of the Club and a host of Jordanian personalities.

During the meeting, moderated by Dr. Samir Qatami, head of the Cultural Committee, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride in the Orthodox Club which made great contributions in the fields of sport and culture at local and regional levels.

“At the beginning of the forced displacement from Yafa to Lebanon, I went to the Orthodox schools where we learned the Christian culture which calls for love and tolerance,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said.

Addressing the guests, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh added that success in the real world would not be achieved unless the individual has a mission through which he seeks to serve his country; asserting that those who search for success do not wait for an opportunity, they make one.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh rejected all justifications that extremism is the result of suffering, reiterating that love is the most powerful motivation in the world that enables individuals to overcome obstacles and challenges.

During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh discussed various economic and social topics expressing his rejection to the word ‘retired’, which according to him, means in Arabic ‘die while you are still sitting’, calling for changing one’s work but not abandoning work for good.

Underlining the fact that Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh has been sounding the alarm of an impending major economic crisis that may hit globally by the year 2020, he clarified, “Contrary to reports by some analysts and experts, I have good reason to believe that the next crisis is going to be more devastating than the previous one in 2008. It is expected to start in the United States and last longer with far more devastating impact on Western economies, causing stagflation and leading to bankruptcies.”

At the end of the session, the Administrative Board presented the Orthodox Club’s Shield to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his contributions and efforts in serving his country and nation.
