LOS ANGELES - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced in a press release that it will host two webinars in September to provide information on early access to the Registration Data Request Service (RDRS) for ICANN-accredited registrars.

Starting on September 20, 2023, registrars can opt-in to the service through the Naming Services portal (NSp), where user guides, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and instructional videos will be made available. Early access to the RDRS will allow registrars to gain familiarity with the service, prepare for incoming requests, add additional users, and set up an optional encrypted email feature to receive requests via email.

ICANN will host two webinars to go over early access and answer any questions registrars might have. All ICANN-accredited registrars are encouraged to join. The webinars will be presented in English and during two time slots (you only need to register for one session). Click on one of the links below to register. Recordings of the webinars will be made available.

The webinar dates are:

• Webinar #1: Tuesday, 26 September 2023 at 01:00 UTC for 60 minutes

About the RDRS

The RDRS will standardize the way requests for nonpublic data are made for both registrars and requestors through the use of a single platform. The new service is expected to benefit both registrars and requestors, including consumer protection advocates, cybersecurity investigators, government officials, intellectual property professionals, and law enforcement authorities, who have a legitimate interest in accessing nonpublic generic top-level domain registration data.

The RDRS is being implemented at the direction of the ICANN Board to gather relevant data that can help inform policy decisions related to a System for Standardized Access/Disclosure. ICANN organization is currently developing the service with the aim to publicly launch in November 2023. For more information, visit the RDRS webpage.
