Coalition for Digital Africa: Participants for DNSSEC Roadshows Project Selected - ICANN

LOS ANGELES - The Coalition for Digital Africa has announced the seven-country code top-level domain (ccTLD) operators that will receive training to implement Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC). This training is part of the DNSSEC Roadshows project, an initiative led by the Coalition for Digital Africa. The technical training sessions will provide ccTLD operators with the tools and expertise required to protect the Internet infrastructure, build user trust, and improve overall Internet security, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) stated.

The selected countries and their respective registry operators are:

Burundi - Centre National de l'Informatique - .bi
Cape Verde - Agência Reguladora Multissectorial da Economia - .cv
Cameroon - Agence Nationale des Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication -.cm
Malawi - Malawi Sustainable Development Network Program - .mw
Mauritania - Université de Nouakchott Al Aasriya - .mr
Nigeria - Nigeria Internet Registration Association - .ng
Sudan - Sudan Internet Society - .sd

To enhance the benefits of the program, the selected registry operators also will be invited to co-host with the Coalition for Digital Africa, training sessions for Internet service providers and network operators in their respective countries to build awareness of the importance of DNSSEC and the deployment of DNSSEC validation in those network operators' recursive resolvers.

The DNSSEC Roadshows project is a collaboration between the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the African Telecommunications Union. It is one of several initiatives undertaken by the Coalition for Digital Africa over the past year, all aimed at building and strengthening the Internet infrastructure to bring more Africans online.

Conceived by ICANN, the Coalition for Digital Africa is an alliance of like-minded organizations committed to supporting the growth and sustainability of the African digital economy.
