During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh referred to the historical standing Algeria enjoys as the ‘Country of the  Million Martyrs, and the efforts made to establish a strong modern state despite the difficulties and challenges experienced by Algeria, among which were the French occupation and the so-called Black Decade or the Algerian Civil War that took the lives of thousands of Algerians in the 1990s of the last Century.
