NEW YORK - The International Trademark Association (INTA) announced Tencent as the Platinum Plus Sponsor for the 2023 Annual Meeting Live+. This is the first such collaboration between the two organizations and the Association’s second Annual Meeting to be hosted in Southeast Asia. Founded in 1998, Tencent is a global Internet and technology company that develops innovative products and services for billions of users around the world. Headquartered in Shenzhen, China, with a presence in 28 offices across the globe, Tencent’s guiding principle is to use technology for good, a press release stated by INTA.

Tencent is the publisher of some of the world’s most popular video games, with stakes in online video, music, literature, fintech, and business solutions. As a company whose success is predicated on innovation and creativity with a global scope, Tencent is an ideal collaborator for INTA and its worldwide membership, and for this year’s Annual Meeting itself.

As part of this collaboration, Tencent will participate in and host a variety of events and activities during the upcoming Annual Meeting, taking place from May 16 to May 20 in Singapore — a country that is an innovation hub itself and an ideal gathering point for the global intellectual property (IP) community. The partnership is a sign of the mutual respect and meeting of minds between the two organizations and allows Tencent to contribute its insight into building a robust IP ecosystem spanning Asia, and the rest of the world. The world’s largest gathering of IP stakeholders, the Annual Meeting boasts educational and business development opportunities which attract thousands of brands and legal professionals, government officials, as well as academics.

As a world-leading internet and technology company, Tencent’s strong participation in the Annual Meeting will enliven and enrich the Meeting’s dual-track educational programming curated around the overarching “Business of Innovation” theme. Contributing to what will make a dynamic and exciting IP event of the year, Tencent’s Head of Global Public Policy, Danny Marti, will deliver a keynote speech at the Opening Ceremonies that will explore the future of technology and brand engagement opportunities.

Mr. Marti said, “At Tencent, it’s in our DNA to explore new frontiers, push the boundaries of technologies, and create unique experiences for our users. With technology continuing to alter and change the very fabric of how we live and work, our investments in “hyper digital reality” and other forms of engagements serve as an early glimpse into how digital advancements can connect people in new and improved ways. Our partnership with INTA not only highlights our enthusiasm of the membership organization but also underscores our commitment to foster innovation and support IP as a global technology and entertainment company rooted in Asia.”

“Tencent and INTA are bound by a common goal of supporting innovation, creativity, and looking to the future for the next big idea. After years of active membership and engagement, we are incredibly excited to work together in this new and substantive way,” said INTA CEO Etienne Sanz de Acedo. “The coming together of two global organizations, each focused on paving the way for the future with vision and creativity, is one that will no doubt provide inspiration and connections for all.”
